When will my cycle be ready?
The short answer is, I don’t know. Delays can occur for all sorts of reasons – parts need to be ordered in, research, or just demands on the service. As an independent mechanic, I can’t delegate. If the service is urgent, then please let me know and we will discuss your options.
What will my cycle cost to repair?
It depends on the cycle, see my prices at adam.bike/pricelist. In general, I crack on with whatever needs done and add it up to an itemised bill. If you like, you can ask me for an estimate in advance. The minimum labour cost for on site work is £20.
What is the payments policy?
For work on location, payment is due by credit card before Adam leaves. If the client is not present, a deposit will be charged. For repairs at the workshop, the bike will not be released until payment clears. Cash, credit/debit card & bank transfer are all accepted.
I’ve broken down, can you come and collect me?
There’s a chance. Phone me on 07737 788 324 and I’ll see what I can do.
What services can you perform on site?
Most cycles can be serviced on site. Sometimes a cycle must come back to the workshop, for example due to missing parts or inclement weather.
You didn’t fix my bike!
Adam.bike wouldn’t get far without satisfied clients. See adam.bike/complaints for my complaints policy.
What happens if I don’t collect my cycle?
Clients must collect their cycle within two weeks of it being ready. After this, penalty of £10 per week applies. After 3 months, it becomes my property, and I will sell it. You still need to pay the original bill.
How do you supply parts?
In general, I only supply parts which I have sourced, but there is no harm asking. It may not not match your existing groupset – my priority is durability, not fashion.
Can you fix [something other than a bicycle]? Perhaps, would the parts also be found on a bicycle? Call me and I’ll see what I can do.
Can you install mudguards/aerobars/something else? Yes, but it will need ordered in. The invoice will include the cost of the item, postage, and my time for finding and installing it.
Other stuff…
Should I get tubeless?
That depends. Tubeless tyres almost guarantee there will be no punctures, and you can arrive on time, every time. You just need to have the tyres service every 3 months. I recommend it if you cycle 3-4 times a week, or need reliability for commuting. But if you have never punctured, or you are happy changing an inner tube, stay with the inner tube.
The Cannondale SystemSix with Continental GP5000 and latex inner tubes is 0.5 seconds faster in the Tour de France!
Well good for Cannondale! I have serviced racing bikes before, and will do so again. However, my passion is the simple bikes that get the masses cycling. After all, my mother never asked me for more aero pedals.
